Ms. Akbar, a Director and the Chairwoman of the Board with Sonoro Energy (TSX-V: SNV), represented Oilserv Kuwait, where she is CEO and Chair, as one of four “energy panel giants” who spoke at the conference.
Among those in attendance at the IBBC Spring Conference were high-ranking figures H.E. Hayan Abdul Ghani Al-Saward, Iraq’s Minister of Oil and Deputy Prime Minister, and H.E. Mohammed Al Daraji, Representative to the Iraqi Prime Minister.
Ms. Akbar was accompanied in London by Sonoro’s Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Dean Callaway.
Sonoro Energy has signed Heads of Agreement with both TransAtlantic Petroleum LLC and IPR Energy to identify production opportunities and acquire producing assets in Iraq.
Ms. Akbar and Sonoro Energy CEO Greg Renwick were received by Minister Abdul Ghani with both project partners in Baghdad in February.
In May, Sonoro launched with Advanced BioCatalytics and NexTier Energy a strategic collaboration to advance heavy oil recovery from carbonate reservoirs.
