CALGARY, Canada (May 12, 2026) —Sonoro Energy Ltd. ("Sonoro" or the “Company”) (TSXV:SNV) announces that Ms. Sara Akbar will assume the role of President and Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. Ms. Akbar is currently Chairwoman of Sonoro and a veteran oil-and-gas executive in the MENA region, based in Kuwait City.
Robert Bensh, announced as Sonoro’s President and CEO on Jan. 8, 2026, has tendered his resignation as a result of public company restrictions, due to his advisory activities with a sovereign government. Mr. Bensh will remain as a consultant to the Company to assist with current projects where needed. The Company thanks Mr. Bensh for his contribution to the Company in 2026.
Ms. Akbar and the Sonoro team’s key initiative remains the completion of one or more of the projects it has been working on over the past year in the MENA region. Iraq and Syria continue to be two countries of specific focus. Conflict in the Middle East has slowed the completion of various initiatives in the area; however, Sonoro is pleased with the advancements that have occurred with its specific projects and expects that it will be able to complete an exciting hydrocarbon project in the area in the very near future.
