The Company's proprietary sonic reactor has been designed and built in a variety of configurations but all PetroSonic process development is undertaken on full scale units.
Sonic Reactor
Sonic reactors are based on low-frequency / high-amplitude sonic energy reactors. A patented electromagnetic drive puts a massive steel bar into resonance and this allows efficient transfer of energy to the reaction chambers. There are no moving parts and so sonic reactors have a high reliability and operational availability.
The reaction chambers are attached at the mid-node points one-half wavelength from the drive system, enabling the reactors to apply sonic energy to physical, chemical and biological processes.
Sonic reactors convert electric power, via sequentially activated magnets, to resonant sonic energy in a steel bar. Sonic energy from the bar is transmitted to the attached process reaction chambers through which process materials can be pumped and be subjected to very intense audio frequency excitation. The vigorous agitation action can be used to grind particles, effect rapid gas-liquid mass transfer, emulsify fluids, and in some cases enhance rates of chemical reactions. Commercial scale sonic reactors remain transportable and require no anchoring once on site.
